Roots was “birthed” by Licensed, Certified Professional Midwife, Gaylea McDougal, who has been serving the middle TN childbirth community for over 2 decades. Gaylea was conventionally trained through Vanderbilt University’s Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner’s program, and then followed up that training with a 5 year traditional midwifery apprenticeship. Gaylea has combined her unique mainstream didactic and holistic clinical experiences to create a practice that offers individualized care, focusing on a healthy balance between the latest scientific evidence of the present and the timeless, sacred traditions of our ancestors.

Gaylea now practices midwifery with Music City Midwifery, LLC. All of the independent providers listed below practice at the Roots office in Goodlettsville (including Gaylea) and each one can be contacted individually through their own websites.
